I typically take the first day of every month off to evaluate and plan. Some think that it is a counterproductive superstition, but it works for me. So I thought I would take the extra hour or so in my day to take a quick look back at the month of March and share some plans for the month of April.
March was a great month. I came back to training after taking a couple of weeks off.I got an awesome opportunity to be an Ambassador for Bio Skin! (More on this very soon!) It was a slow mileage month, I racked up just over 153. But I did get a chance to go fast. I PR’d in the 4 mile, a distance I had never raced before or probably won’t race anytime soon, and finished second in my age group!
It was a great month for the entire team, even seeing a new 5k PR for Jerry and his first podium finish!
No foolin’ April
April is a month I have two very specific goals and one race planned. First the race; I am signed up to run my first trail race. It is a 25k in the Everglades up in Corbett Wildlife Management Area. Jerry is an avid outdoorsman and talked me into this one. I love the comfort of my road races but I am looking forward to getting a little muddy. My first goal for the month of April is to get my weekly mileage back up to between 55-60. Now this will be non-specific training in the sense that I have no race that I am specifically training for in the near future. But I am working on getting faster in shorter distances (5k-13.1). The second goal for the month of April is to lose two more pounds. I currently weigh in at 175. I would like to get down to 173 by the end of April.
That is the plan for me this coming month. What are you up to?
